A stair diagram is a graphical method of displaying the hierarchy of an organization. The diagram shows the hierarchical relationship between different levels in an organization. It is also known as a hierarchical chart or an organizational chart. The first level in the diagram is the topmost level, and it is usually shown at the left-hand side of the page. All other levels are then drawn below it, with each level being indented to show its subordinate position in relation to those above it. The lines that connect levels indicate reporting relationships, with one line for each reporting line from one level to another.
