The SMART acronym is used in project management to help identify the metrics that should be monitored and tracked. The acronym stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
Specific: The project management KPI must be specific to the project itself and not something that will apply to any other projects. For example, a metric like “number of hours spent on tasks” is a relevant metric because it applies only to this one project.
Measurable: The metric must be measurable in some way so that progress can be tracked over time. For example, if the goal of a task is to create a new logo for an organization then the number of hours spent on creating logos could be measured as progress.
